Redemption, Resurrection and Reward

by Bruce A. Huff

I saw them there at the foot of the cross,

Shredded by agony and bitter loss.

To His mother he cried "Behold thy son!"

As he gazed with love on the Beloved One.

I was there that day in my sin and shame,

As he died for the world name by name.

Now stands wide open my Savior's tomb,

Because He gave death a fatal wound.

He conquered death, hell and the deep

So no sorrow can make us ever to weep.

I was there when he rose from a cold, dark grave,

I’m no longer to sin an unwilling slave.

I look toward heaven, my golden home,

Where someday I'll bow at my Savior's throne.

I’ll sing a song angels cannot sing,

Redemption's story – a marvelous thing.

Then I'll tell Him with reverent love in my voice,

"You died on the cross so I made you my choice!”
